5-Amino-1MQ 5 mg
NNMT inhibitor — small-molecule metabolic research tool.
5-Amino-1-methylquinolinium — a small-molecule inhibitor of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), studied in metabolic and adipose-tissue research.
What the peptide is.
5-Amino-1MQ is a small-molecule inhibitor of NNMT (nicotinamide N-methyltransferase), the enzyme that methylates nicotinamide using SAM as methyl donor. NNMT is upregulated in adipose tissue in obesity; inhibition has been studied as a metabolic-research tool.
Published in 2018 by Neelakantan and colleagues. Purely preclinical at this stage.
Competitive inhibition of NNMT → altered SAM / nicotinamide balance → downstream effects on adipose-tissue energy metabolism.
